Following up from 2017’s “Tribute To Eddie EP”, a tribute to the late great Eddie Kendricks of The Temptations, Lorca returns with the “Tribute To Larry” EP on a similar tip.

Larry Levan was known for his decade long stint as resident at the legendary Paradise Garage in New York during the 80s. He has since become known as the prototype for modern dance music DJs. His sets were well known for ushering in an electronic, post-disco sound that presaged the ascendance of house music.

It is this sound and era that influences the music of this EP. Taking inspiration from tracks Larry would regularly play in his sets, Lorca brings them in to the now, bringing new life to 2 classic disco/motown cuts that would regularly send the dance floor into a frenzy.

“Larry’s Bomb” takes chops from Dee Dee Bridgewater’s fervent “Bad For Me” taking key elements from an epic 8 minute builder and making them work in a classic four to the floor format. “Look What You Do” follows in a similar fashion but this time loops the belting vocal intro of a Barber Holloway classic under rolling kicks, claps, live guitar and cowbells.
